Jelena Nenadovic
Jelena Nenadovic, 104, of Ballwin, MO, died peacefully on Oct. 23, at Benchmark Nursing Home. She was born in 1909 in Czechoslovakia to a Russian mother and Serbian father. Her family then returned to Serbia where she married. Preceding her in her death are her husband; four sisters and three brothers.
At 83 she moved to Springfield, IL to live with her daughter. She was a member of the St. John Serbian Orthodox Church in St Louis and a faithful parishioner at Springfield’s St. Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Nada Chang of Ballwin, MO; one granddaughter, Natasha V. Chang and one great granddaughter, Viviana V. Billings, both of Addison, VT; and nephews and nieces residing in Europe.
As a professional pianist, she taught at Belgrade Music Conservatory, and performed on radio and in concert halls. Jelena spoke five languages and was an avid reader.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Saturday October 26, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Church.
Church Service: 11 a.m. Saturday October 26, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to St. Anthony’s church.
