Jeannie M. McCarty
SPRINGFIELD – Jeannie M. McCarty, 50, of Springfield died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born Jan. 8, 1959, in Springfield, the daughter of James L. and Patricia Rodgers Walbert.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia, and her grandparents.
She is survived by a daughter, Amber (husband, Zachary) Slater of Springfield; a son, Daniel McCarty of Springfield; her father,
James L. Walbert; two sisters, Michelle Walbert and Cheryl Walbert, both of Springfield; a brother, James Walbert of Springfield; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jeannie was a lifetime resident of Springfield.
She worked for the state of Illinois, secretary of state, in the Illinois State Archives for 30 years in micrographics.
She was a member of St. Cabrini Church and a former member of the Eagles and Country Gamblers Dance Club. She enjoyed traveling, gambling and was an avid shopper who loved spending time with her dog and three cats. She was an organ donor through Gift of Hope and a member of MDA and ALS Associations.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at Calvary Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Chiola officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
The family requests that donations be made to ALS, MDA – St. Louis regional chapter or to her children for their education.
