Jean Ann Berthold
SPRINGFIELD, IL- Jean Ann Berthold, 94, of Springfield, peacefully passed away at 3:00 am, Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born on June 18, 1922 in Depew, NY to Anthony and Maria (Ronno) Bordonaro. She married Eugene “Gene” Berthold on September 20, 1952 and he preceded her in death on June 29, 2011.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; eight sisters; three brothers and one son in law, Jack Casson. Survivors include two daughters, Jane (Tom) Townsend of Binghamton, NY and Denise Casson of Springfield; one son, Paul (Connie) Berthold of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren, Dan, Ryan, Laura, Sarah, Michael, and Troy; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was a beautician in her home for 48 years and a resident of Springfield since 1952 where she was a parishioner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She sang in the church choir, was a member of Sweet Adeline’s, and always a great cook. Please refer to Jeanberthold.weebly.com for more information about Jean’s life.
Gathering: 9:30 am-11 am Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield.
Funeral Mass: 11 am Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Martin Smith officiating. Private burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
