SPRINGFIELD – Janette Mallow, 87, of Springfield, IL died at 5:10 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2009, at St. John’s Hospice following a short illness.
She was born July 28, 1922, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of George and Mary Rowan Hodge. She married Paul Eugene Mallow in July 1949; and he preceded her in death on June 5, 1988, after 39 years of marriage.
Janette graduated from Lanphier High School. She worked 12 years at Sangamo Electric Company and retired from the Illinois Department of Revenue after 26 years of service. She was a former member of American Business Women’s association. She was a member of Hope Evangelical Free Church, where she was also a volunteer worker in the office for 12 years and then worked 2 years at Morning Star Mercantile and Cafe in Salisbury, IL.
She is survived by her older daughter; Christine L. (husband, Timothy) Goddard and grandchildren, Adam and Joshua Fletcher and Sarah Goddard; her youngest daughter, Deb Mallow and granddaughter, Kiarra Mallow; her sister, Georgia (husband, William) Adamski of Springfield and nieces, Linda Painter of Chattanooga, TN and her children; and Patricia Adamski of Salisbury, IL; nephews, Eric (wife, Gail) Adamski and their children of Petersburg, IL; and Robert (wife, Laura) Adamski and their children of Springfield, IL.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Dr. Larry Yarrington, officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
