James Ronald Strickland
SPRINGFIELD – James Ronald Ron Strickland, Sr., 70, of Springfield, died at Lewis Memorial Christian Village at 12:35 am Thursday, October 14, 2010. He was born July 12, 1940 in Springfield, the son of Harry James and Elsie C. Best Strickland. He married Beverly A. Nevill on August 30, 1988 and she survives. Also surviving are 1 daughter Christina Lynn (Tony) Payne of Springfield; 2 sons James R. (Kim) Strickland, Jr. of Springfield and Robert (Michelle) Nevill of Sherman; 6 grandchildren Kristen Strickland (Landers), Lyndsey Strickland, Kayla and Ryan Nevill, Alicia Reeves and Derrick Geist, 1 great granddaughter Izabell Reeves, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents and sister, Elsie C. Haughey preceded him in death.
James was a lifelong resident of Springfield and formerly worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Sangamon County Planning Commission as a Cartographer.
He was a member of West Side Christian Church; Tyrian Masonic Lodge #333, Springfield Consistory Valley of Springfield and Ansar Shrine Temple in Springfield. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and watching them play sports.
