James Richard "Rick" Sronce
James Richard “Rick” Sronce, 65, of Springfield passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born May 11, 1954 in Peoria, to Joseph and Helen (Reilly) Sronce. He married Karen Burk on April 16, 1977 and she survives.
Other survivors include his four children, Amy (Nick) Giberson of Spaulding; Stephanie (Kenny) Young of Springfield; Sara (Kyle) Grahek of Spaulding; and John Sronce of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Madeline, Andrew, Ethan, Michael, Kenadi, Brooklyn, Kylie, and Vivienne; three brothers, John (Sue) Sronce, Bob (Jill) Sronce, and Kevin (Mary Ellen) Sronce all of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Helen Sparks; and two sons, Joseph and Gerald Sronce.
Rick was a resident of Springfield most of his life. He retired from Central Management Services for the State of Illinois. He was also a member of St. James Catholic Church in Riverton.
Rick was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed harness horse racing, supporting his children and grandchildren, and making and sharing memories with his friends and family.
Family Hosted Memorial Mass: 11:00am, Saturday, October 26, 2019 at St. James Catholic Church in Riverton. Followed by a Celebration of Life at the Knights of Columbus in Riverton.
