James A. Magerl
James A. Magerl, 92, of Springfield, formerly of Milwaukee, died at 10:10 pm Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy. He was born April 29, 1922 in Milwaukee, WI to Frank L. and Elizabeth Sturm Magerl. He married Josephine M. Hahnenberg June 17, 1947 and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2009. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Kim Magerl and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are four daughters, Jan M. (Paul) Zaffo of Warrensburg, NY, Steffanie A. (Dennis) Blake of Hobart, WA, Mary J. (Harold) Osborn of Springfield and Angela R. (Raymond) Lytle of Petersburg; six sons, Gregory A. Magerl of McAllister, OK, Nicholas J. Magerl of Tacoma, WA, Roch A. (Sharon) Magerl of Pleasant Plains, Dennis M. (Penny) Magerl of Longview, TX, Kevin J. (wife: Deborah) Magerl of Springfield and Jason G. (Mary) Magerl of Athens; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Magerl retired from Fiat Allis as a Senior Chemist after 32 years of service. He also worked for CWLP for 9 years. He was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran serving during World War II.
Visitation: 5 – 7 pm Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5pm
Funeral Mass: 10:00 am, Monday, December 1, 2014 at St. Aloysius Church with Monsignor David Lantz and Monsignor Thomas Holinga officiating. A private graveside service will held at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials contributions may be made to St. Francis Convent or St. Aloysius School.
