James L. Lawhorn
James L. Lawhorn, 88, of Divernon died Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11:15 am at his home. He was born to Clarence E. and Bessie (Callahan) Lawhorn on May 15, 1927 in Humboldt. He was married to his wife, Christa G. (Grabski) Lawhorn, for 68 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Babcock.
Survivors include his wife, Christa; daughter, Christa Hesser of New Lenox; two sons, Jeffery (Pamela) Lawhorn of Coral Springs, FL and Gerald Lawhorn of Divernon; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one niece and one cousin.
James was previously employed by Pillsbury for 32 years as a packaging machine mechanic. He enjoyed reading, watching westerns, trimming trees, working at his farm, and being outdoors in nature. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during WWII. He served in the 1st Division 18th Infantry Regiment, Company D before being honorably discharged.
Visitation: 4-7 pm Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Staab Funeral home.
Funeral Service: 10 am Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Gifford officating. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
