James "Jim" E. Britz
James “Jim” E. Britz, Jr., 58, of Dawson, died on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born June 18, 1960 in Springfield to James and Nellie (Hinds) Britz, Sr. He married Connie Melton on June 11, 1980.
He is survived by his wife Connie; one daughter, Lori Britz of Springfield; one son, Jimmy (Falon) Britz of Riverton; five grandchildren, Jimmy IV, Bow, Dawson, Daisey May and Oakley; two sisters, Peggy Brown of Spaulding and Gladys (Kenny) Kutzora of Springfield; one brother, Gary Britz of Springfield and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Terry Wessing, Sr. and one sister, Sharon Richardson.
He was a proud member of Iron Workers Local 46 for around 20 years. Jim was a “jack of all trades” including owning and operating rental properties, farming, raising cattle, hunting and working on cars. Two of his favorite sayings to live by was, “life is like playing Monopoly, you win some, you lose some” and “you never work a day in your life if you enjoy what it is you do.”
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Friday, October 5, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Burial will follow at Salisbury Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
