James Edward Alewelt
James Edward Alewelt, 80, of Springfield, died at 6:05 pm, Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born July 23, 1934 in Springfield, to Carl and Goldie Atterberry Alewelt.His parents, two brothers Joe and Bernie, and one sister Mary Lou Sabo preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Noreeda of Springfield; one daughter Lori Lynn (Rick) Morris of Springfield; one son Lee James Alewelt of Springfield; two grandchildren Cody and Derrick Morris; one sister Margery (Steve) Walton of Moberly, MO; one brother Robert Alewelt of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He worked for City, Water, Light & Power as a water locater. James was a member of St. Aloysius Church and a Veteran of the US Army. He was a member of Route 66 Cruisers and Road Runners.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Monday, July 28, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Deacon Ben Hoefler and Harold Monroe officiating. Burial will be follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Simmons Cancer Institute.
