James Dean Hamrick, Sr.
James Dean Hamrick, Sr. of Springfield, died at 6:50 am, Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He was born December 26, 1931 in Springfield, to Lawrence Russell and Susan Grace Usher Hamrick. He married Fannie E. Powell on May 20, 1951, and she preceded him in death on July 28, 2004. He married Elizabeth Cooke in December of 2004, and she survives.
Also surviving are five sons, James Dean (Janice) Hamrick, Jr. of Springfield, Dennis (JoAnn) Hamrick of TN, Terry (Rebecca) Hamrick of Virden, Douglas (Kerri) Hamrick and Todd Hamrick both of TN; one sister, Betty Jean Gum of Springfield; one brother, Jerry Howard Hamrick of Springfield; six grandchildren; one great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
James was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War from 1950-1953. He was a machinist Inspector for thirty-two years for Allis Chalmers. He was a lifetime member of the AM Vets.
Graveside Service: 2 pm, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Ron Waltrip officiating. Military honors will be conducted.
