James B. Hyatt
James B. Hyatt, 87, of Springfield, died at 2:50 pm, Friday, January 14, 2011 at Villa East Healthcare Center in Sherman. He was born May 2, 1923 in Mahomet, IL to James and Cora Jackson Hyatt. He married Dorla Jane Dorris on February 20, 1976 and she preceded him in death on March 3, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 7 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Hyatt is survived by one daughter Stacey Hyatt (companion Bob Dunn) of Springfield; one granddaughter Jacqueline (Tyler) Johnson of Marietta, GA; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
James served in the Army during WWII from 1943-46 as a Sergeant with the 355 MP Escort Guard in North Africa. He retired from FS Growmark after 32 years in management. He loved fishing, working in his garage and woodworking.
Services: Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Dr. Ron Ferguson officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial detail.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to a Church of the donor’s choice or St. John’s Cancer Institute.
