James Anthony Simanella
James Anthony Simanella, 60, of Springfield, died at 4:16 pm, Sunday, November 22, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born November 8, 1955 in Springfield, to James Samuel and Lucille Harman Simanella.
He is survived by his companion, Wanda Keenan of Springfield; one son David A. Simanella of Danville; one stepson, Farrel (Jeanne) Keenan of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, including Gabe Summers, Jace Allison, Natasha Keenan, Jimmy Keenan, Denise McGrew, Deanna McGrew, Christopher Milton, Jacob Keenan and Kaitlin Milton and one aunt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-daughter, Celeste Bricker; one brother John and one sister Billie.
James was a truck driver and worked for WRSP 55. He also worked as a bodyman and worked for EL Pruitt.
He was a US Navy and Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of DAV Hall Hagler #15 and American Legion Post 32. He enjoyed building model sailboats and playing poker. He loved his three dogs, Lady, Jackson and Barney.
Visitation: 10 am – 12 pm Friday, November 27, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.
Graveside Service: 2:00 pm Friday, November 27, 2015 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Sangamon County Inter Veterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

I didn't know Jim well but knew of him. My thoughts and prayers go out to you Wanda and family.. May you have the strength and understanding to cope and realize the good Lord called him home
