Jackie L. Groth
SPRINGFIELD – Jackie (Jack) L. Groth Sr., 60, of Springfield died at 3:11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 14, 1948, in Springfield, the son of Francis and Dorothy Mohn Groth Sr.
He married Barbara Lueck on Nov. 11, 1967.
He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Donald and Larry Groth; and a sister, Patty Groth.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Groth; his mother, Dorothy Groth of Springfield; two
daughters, Jill (Dave) Laub and Christine Groth, both of Springfield; two sons, Jackie L. Groth Jr. and James Groth, both of Springfield; five grandchildren, Cheyenne, Jacqueline, Logan, Clayton and Dylan; a great-grandson, James; three sisters, Dolores (husband, Clifford) Anderson, Dorothy Boots (husband, Herman) Williams and Lynda (companion, Michael Ducey) Bressan, all of Springfield; a brother, Francis Sonny (wife, Pat) Groth Jr. of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jack was a lifelong resident of Springfield.
He worked for 39 years as a union roofer, retiring June 14, 2009, due to illness.
He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited. He was president of Roofers Union Local 112. Jackie was an avid hunter, especially deer. He loved spending time and traveling with his family throughout the United States and was very fond of Las Vegas.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Pastor James Hennig officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
