Jack L. Pierce
SPRINGFIELD – Jack L. Pierce, 92, of Springfield died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
He was born March 4, 1917, in Redden, Okla., the son of Lafe and Lucy Hargrave Pierce. He married Helen Prohaska in 1944; she preceded him in death in 1988. He married Delores Hinds in 1989; she preceded him in death in 2000. Also preceding him in death were his parents; and five brothers, Perry, Lonnie, Edgar, Ray and Jim.
Mr. Pierce, a resident of Springfield since 1939, owned Pierce Waste Oil for 30 years.
He was a member of Church of the Little Flower. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during WWII. Jack was a wonderful, soft-spoken kind man who was greatly loved by his family and friends.
Surviving are his two daughters, Mary Lynn (Joseph) Giacomini of Sherman and Sharon (Mike) Bedolli of Springfield; two sons, Martin Pierce and Michael Pierce, both of Springfield;
several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Cockrill and Louise Roland, both of Durant, Okla.; a brother, William Clyde Pierce of Muskogee, Okla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home with prayers at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at Church of the Little Flower with Monsignor John Ossola officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
