SPRINGFIELD – Isaac P. Tex White, 86, of Springfield died at 5:38 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Mount Vernon, the son of William T.S. and Stella White. He married Bernadine Rapp in 1947; she preceded him in death in 1983. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; and several brothers and sisters.

Mr. White was a resident of Springfield since 1951. He worked as a janitor at Capital Airport and previously was a tenant farmer for four or five years in Pleasant Plains.

He was a member of Church of Christ and Senior Citizens Center of Springfield. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II, where he was a driver for Gen. Doolittle. He enjoyed playing his harmonica and guitar and also enjoyed playing and listening to bluegrass music.

Surviving are three daughters, Patricia White of Springfield, Sandra White of North Lauderdale, Fla., and Pamela (William) Cox of Springfield; a son, Ronald (Connie) White of Springfield; five grandchildren, Sean, Rebecca, Heather, Jason and Erin; three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Kelsey and Shelby; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held there at 1 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, with William Clary officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, where the Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
