Iris B. Bietsch
Iris P. Bietsch, 97, of Auburn, died at 8:30 pm, Thursday, February 20, 2014, at her residence. She was born July 31, 1916, the daughter of Merle Theresa Taylor Baker and Guy Orlando Baker. She married Henry “Harry” F. Bietsch in 1940 and he preceded her in death on August 10, 1991. Iris graduated from Friend Nebraska High School in 1935, the valedictorian of the class. She attended Iowa State College for one year and graduated from Brown’s Business College.
She worked in several bookkeeping jobs around Springfield and retired from International Harvester (Navistar) in 1973.
Harry and Iris raised three sons and one daughter, Theresa L. Bietsch (Dennis Putnam) of Auburn, Michael J. Bietsch (Kathy) of Nevada, MO, Robert D. Bietsch (Karen) of Spaulding and Norman H. Bietsch of Springfield. They lived at 202 West Carpenter for 47 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two brothers, Bill and Bob Baker and a daughter in law, Cheryl Bietsch. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jennifer Horton (Matthew), Jake Stapleton (Julie), Aren Harrison (Mark), Nicole Stapleton and Chloe Bietsch; three great grandchildren, Olive, Wyatt and Walsh and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10-11 am, Monday, February 24, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Monday, February 24, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
