SPRINGFIELD – Hugh Haney Jr., 84, of Springfield died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born July 6, 1925, in Arthur, the son of Hugh E. and Anna Margheretta Logan Haney. He married Wilma I. Culp on July 20, 1974; she preceded him in death on February 4, 1993.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Floyd and Willard Haney; and a sister, Jane Conradi.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Haney (husband, Harry Knoles) of Sevierville, Tenn.; a son, David (wife, Cathy) Haney of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Casey, Toby, Wesley and Holly Poos and Ashley, Emily and Alyssa Haney; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Myron (wife, Delores) Haney of Sullivan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Hugh was a resident of Springfield since 1953.
He retired in 1984 as a clerk from the U.S. Postal Service.
Hugh served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge 4, Ansar Shrine, and Aqua Sports Club.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rebecca Sundquist officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
