Hilda P Chapman
Hilda P. Chapman, 81, of Springfield died at 7:48 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Heritage Healthcare. She was born March 17, 1931 in Whitehall, IL to Marion and Lora Mathews VanMeter. She married Richard Chapman, Sr. on December 24, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1998.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son; Richard Chapman, Jr.; one daughter, Linda Brogdon; two brothers; Marion “Big Boy” and Larry VanMeter
Hilda is survived by her daughter, Sandy Kelso of Springfield; four sons, Donald (Monze) Chapman of Greenfield, IL, Robert Chapman of Whitehall, IL, Michael (Deb) Chapman of Springfield and Raymond (Karen) Chapman of Chatham; two son-in-laws, Kelvin Kelso and Larry Brogdon, twenty-four grandchildren; forty-eight great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Hilda was a resident of Whitehall most of her life. She was a member of East Keys Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family and playing bingo.
Visitation: 12-1 pm, Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Dennis J. Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
