SPRINGFIELD – Herschel Allen Stults Jr., 70, of Springfield, died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center
He was born Jan. 17, 1939, in Springfield, the son of Herschel and Marian Florence Rice Stults Sr. He married Sandra Fansler in 1960. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Stults, a resident of Springfield all of his life, was president and chief engineer of Stults Scientific Engineering since 1966.
He was a graduate of Missouri Military Academy, Mexico, Mo., he also attended Westminster College, Fulton, Mo., and Illinois Wesleyan College, Bloomington. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Springfield Motorboat Club, Republican party and an honorary member of Society of Commercial Seed Technologists. He loved sailing, boating, flying, model railroading, fishing, and history. He was associated with the ag industry for over 50 years.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Stults of Springfield; one daughter, Kimberly Ann (Don) Stults Benson of Marianna, Ark.; one son, Herschel Stults III of Pawnee; four grandchildren, Katie Stults of Pawnee, Olivia Stults of Springfield and Chelsea and Amber Benson, both of Marianna, Ark.; and several cousins.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Dr. Bob Swickard officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
