Herman Bernhard Hoemmen
Herman Bernhard Hoemmen, 85, of Springfield died at 12:56 pm Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born on November 6, 1928 in Werlte, Germany to Hermann and Josefa Tepe Hömmen. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Anna Horras and Maria Oldiges and one brother, Theodor Hömmen. He married Hedy Jeymann and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Charlotte (Randy) Black of Springfield and Andrea (John) Early of Batavia; two sons, George T. (Sue) Hoemmen of Springfield and Karl F. (Conny) Hoemmen of Köln, Germany; nine grandchildren, Chris, Andrew, Michael (Samantha), Benjamin, Alex, Tara, Garrett, Caitlin, Cameron; one great grandson, Lucas; one sister, Antonia Bernardy of Springfield; one brother, Fritz (Kathi) Hoemmen of Dallas City, IL and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hoemmen was a member of St. Joseph Church. He enjoyed woodworking, and playing the harmonica for his children and grandchildren. He worked for Evans and Mason as a brick mason and was an apprentice and journeyman from Germany.
Memorial Gathering: 9-10:45 am Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. Joseph Church.
Memorial Mass: 11:00 am Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. Joseph Church with Reverend Steven Janoski officiating. Burial will follow at McKinnie Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church.
