Helen M. Weakley
Helen M. Weakley, 78, of Springfield, IL, entered Heaven’s gates at 5:17 am, Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born October 9, 1933 in Banner, OK to Harvey Lee and Margaret Carmean Spencer.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Stroisch of Springfield, Lisa (Bob) Nichols of Philo, IL and Joyce (Mike) Edmonds of Sullivan, IL; two sons, Doug (Sue) Gray of South Carolina and Robert (Melissa) Smith-Anderson of Indianapolis, IN; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four husbands, Charles Gray, George Pownall, Carl Weakley and Gaylord Smith.
Helen was a member of Living Faith Baptist Church in Sherman. She enjoyed going to flea markets and quilting when she was able. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She retired from AIG in 1995 and after retirement worked for the Illinois State Museum for the past thirteen years.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Friday, August 24, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Emerson officiating. Burial will follow at Auburn Cemetery.
