Helen "Blondie" Hawkins
Helen “Blondie” Hawkins, 85, of Springfield, died at 12:10 am, Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born August 14, 1928 in Athens, IL, to Everett and Myrtle Roberts Powell. She married Paul Hawkins and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2010.
She is survived by eight grandchildren; Angela (Jeff) Antonacci, Tony and Troy Cirillo, Troy, Brian, Rick and Cole Hibbs and Charlene Gowins; several great grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert and George Powell and her feline companions, Riley and Sissy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Sharon E. Cirillo and two sons, Everett Lee and Clarence Michael Hibbs.
Helen worked in the Cafeteria at St. Joseph’s Home for twenty years.
Visitation: 9-10 am, Monday, March 31, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Monday, March 31, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
