WAPELLA, IL- Hattie V. Stone, 87, died at 12:10 am, Saturday December 12, 2015 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born on July 20, 1928 in Watertown, TN to Will and Betty Jane Reed Slager. She married Ellis E. Stone on November 10, 1981 who preceded her in death on April 18, 1999.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, son, Jesse Walker, daughter, Betty Ann Smith, step-daughter, Suzanne Overcash, son-in-law, Rodger Smith, two grandsons, Shawn Smith and Marvin Smith, brother, Marshall Slager, and four sisters, Myrtle Jones, Leevie Bayne, Janie Taylor, and Reba Shelton.

Surviving are her six children, Kathy (Dave) Peters of Sherman, Chester (Teresa) Walker of Waynesville, Dorothy Smith of Waynesville, Robert (Donna) Walker of Garrett, IN, Joseph (Lori) Walker of South Hampton, NY, and Randy Walker of Decatur; three step-children, Barbara (Gene) Towns of Harvest, AL, William (Debi) Stone of Champaign, and Kathy (Marvin) Staton of Clinton; sister, Johnie Mai Wilkerson of Watertown, TN; sister-in-law, Lucy Slager of Lebanon, TN; 19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and her dog Molly.

Hattie worked numerous jobs and loved gardening and planting new flowers.

Graveside Service: 12 pm, Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Bill Payne officiating.
