Harvey L. Dunham
SPRINGFIELD: Harvey L. Dunham, 87 of Springfield died at 6:45 pm, Friday, November 20, 2009, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
He was born July 10, 1922, in Springfield, the son of William B. and Josephine Lippon Dunham. He married Imo Hawkins on April l1, 1941; she preceded him in death in 2000. He also was preceded in death by his praents; a grandson, Coody L. Dunham; and two sisters, Rose Bloudh and Flora J. Murray.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandra J. Dunham of Indiana Harbor Beach, FL and Billie L. (Husband, Steve) Pitman of Billings, MT; two sons, Harvey B. (wife: Nancy) Dunham of Chatham and Timothy C. (wife: Patti) Dunham of Springfield; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchilren.
Harvey was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He retired as a divisional superintendent from Sangamo Weston Copr. Harvey was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of Tyrian Lodge 333 AF & AM, Ansar Shrine, VFW and Southside Christian Church. He was a red coat volunteer at Memorial Medical Center, the past president of the 38 Club and an avid Cubs fan. He was a graduate of Lanphier High School.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm, Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Staab Funeral Home. Harvey’s body will lie-in-state from 10 am until the time of funeral services at 10:30 am, Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Southside Christian Church, with Jeff Chitwood officiating. Burial will be at noon on Wednesday at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
