H. Suzanne Suzie Tucker died on Monday February 16, 2009.

Born in Hartford, IL. she graduated from Roodhouse High School and Our Savior Hospital School of Nursing, Jacksonville, IL. She also attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL. She retired from St. John’s Hospital where she was a registered nurse in Surgery/Recovery. She also previously worked at the Illinois School for the Deaf.

She was a member of Harvard Park Baptist Church and a former member of the Silver tones Choir. Suzie was active in many civic organizations and spent her retirement years serving others including time spent as a member of the Springfield Senior Citizens Commission. Suzie was a volunteer and supporter of the American Red Cross for more than 60 years serving in numerous national disaster operations, in response to local disasters and working at numerous first aid stations including the Illinois State Fair. She was a past Chairman of Volunteers and member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. She served both as a health and safety and disaster instructor.

She married Joseph C. Tucker on December 6, 1956 he preceded her in death on December 20, 1986. Her beloved dog ASDO also preceded her in death.

Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Harvard Park Baptist Church with Dr. John Charlton III officiating. Burial will be in West Cemetery in Pittsfield, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross Disaster Services program in Springfield, Illinois.
