Harold J. Bryant
CHATHAM, IL – Harold J. Bryant, 84, passed away at 6:10 am, Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born May 13, 1930 in McLean County, KY to Oba Ray and Eula Mae (Tabor) Bryant. He married Lola Curtis on November 6, 1948 and she survives.
He is also survived by his two daughters: Kathy (Danny) Law of Chatham and Diane (Mark) Muncy of Springfield; one son, Steve (Kim) Bryant of Chatham; seven grandchildren, Craig (Cindy) Law, Chris Muncy, Rachele Benedict, Karen (Chris) Jones, Beth Luttrell, Jared (Mandy) Bryant and Kitt Bryant; thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oba and Eula Bryant and two brothers: Leslie and Charles Bryant.
Harold was a resident of Chatham for the past 13 years, formerly of Springfield. He was a police officer for the City of Springfield Police Department for 22 years and a US Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion 755, Illinois Police Association, Police Benevolent Association and owner of Swank Motors of Springfield, IL for many years.
Visitation: 4-8 pm, Monday, March 16, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Burton officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Sangamon County Interveterans and the US Army will conduct military honors.
