H. Lane McBride
H. Lane McBride, 89, of Springfield, died at 11:24 am, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Home. He was born November 15, 1925 in Hopedale, IL to Howard W. and Clara Jane Henderson McBride. He married Patricia Walsh in April 1949 and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Stephanie (Richard Haffer) Myers of Springfield; two sons, Gary (Marcy) A. McBride of Rochester; Dale T. McBride of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Amy McBride (Dave Calandro), Leah Myers, Stephen McBride, Ben Myers, Michelle McBride, Daniel Myers, Tom McBride and Katherine Kent and nine great-grandchildren; three nieces and several cousins.
His parents and one sister Mary Jane Montgomery preceded him in death.
Lane was a Veteran of the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Elks, St. Paul 500 Masonic Lodge, Consistory and Ansar Shriner where he was a member of the Clown Unit and Jeepsters. Lane enjoyed golfing and was very proud of his hole in one. He retired from The State of Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. He previously had worked for Capitol City Paper Company.
Visitation: 5:00 –7:00 pm, Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.
Lie in State: 11:00 – 11:30 am, Friday, January 23, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Home.
Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Friday, January 23, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Home with Reverend Dr. Clifford J. Hayes officaiting.
Memorial contributions to Shriners Hospital for Children.
Private family burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
