Glenn R. Barker
Glenn R. Barker, 76, of Springfield, died at 4:56 am, Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Concordia Village. He was born May 9, 1935 in Mt. Sterling, IL to George R. and Nellie Harper Barker. He married Virginia L. Crowell on August 23, 1975 and she survives. Also surviving are one brother George T. (Pat) Barker of Springfield and several nieces, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Kenneth and John Barker.
Formerly of Mount Sterling, IL, Glenn has been a resident of Springfield since 1975. He served our country in the United States Air Force from 1957-1966. Glenn was a member of First United Methodist Church and worked as a Draftsman for Collins and Rice Consulting Engineering, where he retired after 23 years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed working on his computer. He was also a guardian parent and supported Cunningham Children’s Home.
Graveside Service: 10 am, Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Reverend Robert McDonald officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
