Giuseppa "Josephine" Fileccia
Giuseppa “Josephine” Fileccia, 84, of Springfield, died at 5:25 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2015 at her daughter’s home. She was born January 2, 1931, in Palermo, Sicily to Antonio and Sara LoVecchio. She married Vincenzo Fileccia in 1947 in Palermo and he preceded her in death on March 27, 2013.
Survivors include her daughter, Angela (husband: Larry) Lichtenberger of Springfield, two grandchildren, Robert (Tiffany) Giganti of Bloomington and Erich (Andrea) Lichtenberger of Springfield; six great grandchildren, whom she loved very much, Drake, Andrew, Ian, Noah, Elijah and Isaiah; two sisters, Rosalie and Enza LoVecchio both of Palermo, Sicily and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Concetta LoVecchio and infant daughter.
Mrs. Fileccia was extremely close to her daughter, Angela and came to the United States in 1972 to be near her. She was a member of St. Agnes Church. She owned and operated Josephine’s Tailor Shop. The family would like to thank Cheryl Hicks for all her love and help.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at St. Agnes Church.
Funeral Mass: 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at St. Agnes Church with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemetery.
