George W. “Spibb” Woodard, 91 of Springfield died at 12:50 am on Monday, April 13, 2020 at Generations Healthcare in Lincoln,IL. He was born on March 1, 1929 in Sherman, IL to George William and Josephine (Vignali) Woodard.

Surviving are his wife Sherry M. Orme of Athens; one son David Woodard and wife Katherine Meerse of Saint Paul, Minnesota; one step-son Trevor W. Orme and wife Keri of Athens, IL; grandchildren, Kathryn, Sarah and Jack Waugh of Sherman, IL and step- grandchildren, Caleb, Connor and Gracie Orme of Athens, IL.

George was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Rose Marie (Antonacci) and two daughters, Victoria Jo Woodard (1960-1993) and Julie Ann Waugh (1964-2002).

George was a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division. He owned and operated “Spibbs Music Shop” and was a professional Steel Guitar player.

Private Burial: Burial will be private family only at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
