George S Patton
George S. Patton, 50, of Springfield, formerly of Hillsboro, died at 3:59 pm on Saturday, December 8, 2012, in Peoria. He was born on October 3, 1962 in Hillsboro to Peter J. and Rosemary A. Baumann Patton. He was preceded in death by his father; 2 uncles, Nick Patten and Maurice “Bud” Baumann, three aunts, Betty Baumann, Nicky Kaperonis and Tess Parr.
Surviving are his mother, Rosemary A. Patton of Springfield; three sisters, Penny (Mike) Noel of Chesterfield, MO, Connie Stelbrink and Mickey (Brian) Lauer, both of Springfield; a brother, John M. Patton of Springfield; one aunt, Bessie Conis of St. Louis, MO; two nieces, Angela (Ben) Christianson of St. Louis, MO and Alexandria Rose Lauer of Springfield; one nephew, Alex Noel of St. Louis, MO and several cousins.
Mr. Patton was of the Catholic Faith. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Greenville College. He was an active member of the 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Lion’s Club and Moose Club in Hillsboro. George was a Samaritan for St. John’s Hospital. He loved to karaoke and he especially enjoyed sharing joint custody of the family dog, Jack. He enjoyed being of service to others in many different ways.
George was a dedicated worker at Bass Patton Funeral Home along with his parents until their retirement.
Visitation: 5 – 7 pm, Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass: 11 am, Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Peter Harman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Staunton at 2:30 pm.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Diabetes Association or a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
