George Pehlman Earley
George P. Earley, 92, of Springfield passed away at 11:20 pm on June 29, 2018 at Mill Creek Memory Care Center. He was born October 3, 1925 to Charles and Anne Pehlman Earley. George married the love of his life, Edna Gorsek, on November 24, 1945 and they celebrated seventy years of marriage before her passing on March 7, 2016.
Before his retirement in 1987, George was a Personnel Manager of the Fiatallis Springfield facility, where he was employed for forty-one years. He also served as President of the Fiatallis salaried Retirees Organization for thirteen years, along with serving as President of Both Allis Chalmers Management Club and the Aqua Sports Club.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving three years aboard the Battleship U.S.S. New Mexico as a Yeoman First Class and was awarded numerous medals for action in the Pacific Theatre of Operations along with being awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received during the Philippine Operations.
Surviving are his daughter, Karen (David) Ford of Springfield; grandson, Ryan (Kristie) Ford of Lombard; granddaughters, Katie (Travis) Weldon of New Lenox and Kelley (Danny Stork) of Hopewell. Also surviving are two great grandsons, Carter and Brayden Ford of Lombard, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Service: 12:00 pm, Monday, July 9, 2018 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

George & Edna were great neighbors. It will be strange not to see George mowing the lawn and out walking the neighborhood, pulling trash cans up to their owner's house and keeping an eye out on the neighborhood. He will be missed.
