George "Mick" Bell
George “Mick” Bell, 78, died on August 6, 2019, at his home in Springfield, Illinois. He was born on August 2, 1941 in Buffalo, IL, the son of George “Truman” and Mary F. (Mulcahy) Bell. He attended school in Buffalo, graduating in 1959. Mick was a farmer for 30 years near Petersburg and then became a District Seed Corn Manager for multiple companies.
He married Paula J. McCubbin in 1964 at St. Joseph Church in Buffalo and she survives. Mick and Paula were married for 55 years. They had two children; a daughter, Marla (John) Balster of Petersburg and a son, Matt (Kristen) Bell of Charlotte, NC; 6 grandchildren, John (Amanda) Balster, Emily Balster, Ashley (Michael) Bennett, Samantha Abigail and Carson Bell and five great-grandchildren.
Mick is also survived by his sister, Yolanda (Bob) Bastas; brother, Kelsey (Eric) Maddox-Bell and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5 – 7 pm, Friday, August 9, 2019 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Casey McCormick officiating. Burial will follow at Steenbergen Cemetery in Mt. Pulaski.
