George H. Baker
George H. Baker, 69, of Springfield, died at 7:50 p.m., Sunday, December 30, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born on October 16, 1949 in Springfield to George Denzel and Mellzoe (Maze) Baker. He married Betty Eagan on April 15, 1977 and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Alexis (Juan) Larios of Springfield; one son, George Aaron Baker of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Sabrina, Jayden and Aaron Ryan Larios; three brothers, Donald (Nora) Baker of Karnak, IL, Clarence (Pat) Baker of Springfield, and Millard (Debbie) Baker of Urich, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Lori Ann-Marie Baker and one sister Mellzoe Baker.
George was a United States Army Veteran serving during Vietnam. After Vietnam, George served in the Army National Guard for seven years. He graduated from Lanphier High School, enjoyed playing golf, collecting coins and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Graveside Service: 11 am Monday, January 7, 2019 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Rev. Ralph McCarty and Rev. Bob Gebhardt officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Inter-veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
