Gary LeRoy Haddock
SPRINGFIELD – Gary LeRoy Haddock, 67, of Springfield died at 9:55 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 21, 1941, in Peoria, the son of Floyd and Elizabeth Elliot Haddock. He married Lonnette A. Ansley on Sept. 16, 1967.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Lonnette A. Haddock; a son, Eric (wife, Julia) Winston Haddock of Seattle; a sister, Mary Frances Smith of Springfield; a brother, John (wife, Jan) Smith of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.
He worked in private law practice in Pittsfield for 25 years, then was assistant press secretary for the House from 2001 to 2007.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He enjoyed playing the bagpipes and was a member of the Academy of Lifelong Learning at LLCC. He was a University of Illinois alumnus.
A private memorial service will be held, with the Rev. Peter Harman officiating.
