Frank W. Siebert, DPM
SPRINGFIELD – Frank W. Siebert, DPM, 84, passed away on November 22, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Home. He was born January 4, 1931 in Springfield, IL to Ferdinand and Helen (Wilson) Siebert. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He married Bertie Owens on December 23, 1951, and she survives. He is also survived by three children: Gayle (Steve) Gonzalez, Philip (Kelly) Siebert, and Jill (Kevin) Guinan, all of Springfield; six grandsons: Grant (Erin) Gonzalez, Gregg Gonzalez, Blake (Sara) Siebert, Mathew Siebert, Michael Guinan and Alex Guinan; one great-grand daughter, Avery Gonzalez; one sister, Marilyn (Joseph) Brisbois of Murfreesboro, TN; one brother-in-law, Ross Owens of Rochester, and several nieces and nephews.
Frank served in the Korean War as a Navy Corpsman. He graduated from Illinois College of Chiropody with the assistance of a G.I. Bill in 1958. He practiced Podiatry for 47 years evolving with his profession, training resident Podiatrists at Hopedale Hospital and was later instrumental in establishing the Departments of Podiatry at St. John’s Hospital and Memorial Medical Center in 1986. He was an avid outdoorsman founding Honey Point Duck Club in 1975. A south wind and sunshine would bring a smile to his face “it’s a Sawbill day”. The club lives on today with the next generation at the helm. When there was nothing to hunt, he spent summers trolling Lake Michigan on the “Bertie Lou” for King and Coho salmon.
Visitation: 10:30 am -12 pm, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 12 pm, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Sangamon County Interveterans and the US Navy will conduct military honors.
