Frank Besjak, Jr.
Frank Besjak, Jr. 87, of Springfield, died at 8:40 pm, Sunday, November 16, 2014 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born, March 22, 1927, in Springfield, to Frank and Mary Knaus Besjak, Sr.
He is survived by one daughter, Geralyn Hoyt of Sachse, TX and two sons, Jimmy Besjak of Springfield and Dennis Besjak of Idabel, OK; one grandson, Brent Baxter; two great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Gaige Baxter; one brother, Charles Besjak of Loami.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Frank L. and a grandson, Brian Besjak, both in 1993.
Frank was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran and served during the Korean War. He was a bookkeeper from 1972-1985 for Central Illinois Road Equipment Company and began working for the Illinois State Police in 1986 and retired from there in 1992. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and yard work. He had a passion for life and his children. Frank was a genuine gentleman and treated everyone with respect.
Memorial Gathering: 4-7 pm, Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 6:45 pm.
Memorial Mass: 10:30 am, Friday, November 21, 2014 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Christopher House officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp COCO, SIU Foundation Office, PO Box 9666, Springfield, IL 62794-9666.
