Frank A. Perkins
Frank A. Perkins, 83, of Springfield, IL, passed away at 9:15 am, Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Regency. He was born August 8, 1932, the son of Frank A. Perkins, Sr. and Ethel A. Price Perkins.
He was preceded in death by his sons, David and John, and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son George (Barb) Perkins. He married Wanda Andrews on November 3, 1983 and she survives.
Also surviving are six daughters, Linda (Patrik) Claussen of Athens, Diane (Tom) Spitz of Nixa, MO, Debbie (Bob) Bolt of Springfield, Cheryl (Brian) Esela of Springfield, Susan (Matt) Cassiday of Springfield and Janet (Pat) Brown of Springfield; one sister Sue (Jerry) Schuh; nineteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, from whom he received much joy.
Frank proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #4; the ANSAR Shrine Temple and the Illinois Terminal Society.
He worked for Amrhein’s Holsum Bread and Hostess Cakes.
His great passion was working for the Illinois Terminal Railroad and eventually became the IT Trainmaster for Central Illinois. He then worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 7:00 pm.
Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Friday, October 2, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with Micheal Drake officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the Animal Protective League.
