Frances Ellen (Polley) Welch
Frances Ellen (Polley) Welch, 75, of Springfield died at 3:05 pm, Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Regency with her family by her side. She was born December 8, 1940 in DuQuoin to Loren Woodford and Ellen Augusta (Evans) Polley, Sr. She married W. Paul Welch on May 18, 1960. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Sandra Faye Coleman and a special friend Virginia Carson.
Frances was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was co-founder along with her husband of the Lincoln Heritage Soccer League which they ran for 28 years. She was also a member of the Illinois Genealogical Society. Frances was an assistant for her husband at his State Farm Insurance Agency for 50 years. Frances was a natural artist, a Jeopardy whiz, a Sci-Fi aficionado, a dedicated grandma, outstanding cook and was a second mother to many.
Surviving are her husband, W. Paul; one son, Paul David (Cynthia) Welch of Wentzville, MO; one daughter, Sara Evans (Rodney) Moler of Springfield; six grandchildren, Jordan V. (Eryn) Welch, Evan N. Welch, Rachel E. Welch, Chelsea G. Welch, Faith N. Welch and Jordan M. Moler; four siblings, Mary Anne (Ray, Sr.) Harriss, Loren W. (Lois) Polley, Jr., Daniel J. (Marsha) Polley and Ricky R. (LuAnn) Polley; special friends, Ruby Coady and Ginny Rhoades and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Friday, May 27, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life follows the visitation at the Boulevard at Town and Country Mall from 6-10 pm.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home with Bishop Fiore Belmonte officiating.
