PALMYRA – JoAnne Odom, 75, of Palmyra died at 9:29 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital. She was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Illiopolis, the daughter of Delbert and Ruth Smith Leckrone. She married John D. Odom in 1960.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Betty Faucet; and a brother, Ronald Leckrone.
She is survived by her husband, John D. J.D. Odom of Palmyra; two daughters, Nancy Pompeo of Girard and Deborah (husband, Bradley) Bowman of Glenarm; a son, Richard David (wife, Marybeth) Odom of Gunnison, Colo.; six granddaughters, Tricia Pompeo, Erica (husband, Jeremy) Coleman, Angela Pompeo, Sadie Azzo, Katie Azzo and Kelsey Odom; a grandson, Alex Bowman; a sister,
Carroll (husband, Jim) Robinson of League City, Texas; a sister-in-law, Marsha Leckrone of Decatur; an aunt and uncle, Jasper and Rachel Madonia of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a homemaker and a member of
First Church of the Nazarene. She loved shopping and going to garage sales. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities. She loved dancing, especially the jitterbug.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Fred Prince officiating.
Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
