SPRINGFIELD – Florence A. Fleischli, 92, of Springfield died at 8:03 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at St. John’s Hospital.

She was born July 3, 1917, in Springfield, the daughter of John and Florence Carrol Burke.

She married Dr. George H. Fleischli on Nov. 6, 1941; he preceded her in death on June 4, 1970.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Judy Wyness; a sister, Mary Kunzweiler; and two brothers, John and James Burke.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Fleischli of Springfield; three sons, George H. Fleischli Jr., William Bill (Cindi) Fleischli and Michael Mike Fleischli, all of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Anne (Ken) Sagins, John (Terese) Fleischli, George Wyness, Jeff (Molly) Fleischli, Cullen Manning, Evan Manning, Billy Fleischli and Ryan Fleischli; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Kay (Tom) Flattery of Springfield; a sister-in-law, Margaret Burke of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Florence was a lifelong resident of Springfield.

She graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing as a registered nurse and worked as a private duty nurse. In later years she was employed by Madison Furniture, where she worked with her dear friends.

Florence was a member of Christ the King Church. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren, friends and family as Baw Baw. She was a member of St. Louise de Marillac, Brinkerhoff foundation and many other originations. She led a very active and enjoyable life.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home, with prayer service at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at Christ the King Church, with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the George H. Fleischli Memorial Scholarship c/o Sacred Heart-Griffin High School.
