Faye A. Chiola
SPRINGFIELD – Faye A. Chiola of Springfield died December 14, 2009. Born October 19, 1920 in Mechanicsburg, the daughter of Alvey and Fern Barbre Yeaman, she married Guido Chiola in 1938, he died in 2000. Also preceding her in death were her parents, 5 brothers, Lester, Lawrence, Leon, Carl, Billy and 4 sisters, Ruth Geist, Carrie Cunningham, Sharon Carver, Opal Yocom, and a son-in-law, Reginald Davis.
She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church, ABWA, Rockettes of Ages, an original volunteer at Holy Family Food Pantry, and a lay associate of the Franciscan Sisters. She opened the Jus-Lik-Nu Shop in 1961 as well as founded and operated Faye’s Catering for 19 years. She was named Ms. Senior Illinois of 1992.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Donna Davis and Kathy Pearson (husband, Dr. Donald H.) both of Springfield; 3 sons, Rev. Richard Chiola of Springfield, Judge Thomas Chiola (partner, Drew Jemilo) of Chicago and Sgt. James Chiola (wife, Joan) of Peoria; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Betty Dixon (husband, Bob) and Peggy McLaughlin (husband, George), both of Springfield and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 4-6:30 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2009 at St. Cabrini Church followed by Mass at 6:30 p.m. Private Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Family requests no flowers but donations to Holy Family Food Pantry or St. Cabrini Church.
