Everett E. Ledbetter
Everett E. Ledbetter, 95 of Springfield departed this life on March 16 at Sunrise Rehabilitation Center in Virden surrounded by his son Russell Ledbetter and wife Mary Jane and Grandson Richard Ledbetter and his wife Betty, along with his Granddaughter, Lyndsie Feher. He was born on August 12, 1924 the son of Lewis Ledbetter and Catherine Saul Ledbetter.
He was a member of Springfield Southern Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons Earl Gene and Russell (Mary Jane), Grandson Richard Ledbetter (Betty), Sherri Whitmore (Gary), Lisa Brown, Diana (John) Baranzelli, Christopher (Amy) Ledbetter, Jamie (Brandon) Bowden, Robin Ledbetter, David Feher, III and Lyndsie Feher; step-grandchildren, Shelly Gresham, Susan Bowen and Scott Morehead and many more great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife Reba who he was married to for almost 60 years, second wife Dorothy Milner Bush; his sons Bervin Carter, Nolan, and daughter in law Kay Ledbetter, brother Bill Ledbetter, and sisters Mildred McIntyre, Edith Howe, Edna Baily.
Everett was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He served with the US Third Army, 76th Infantry in Belgium in the Battle of the Bulge and Bastogne, in WWII. He retired after 33 years with the State Journal Register.
Private services were held at Staab Funeral Home on March 20, 2020 and private burial was on March 21, 2020 in Sparta, IL at Caledonia Cemetery.
