Evelyne E. Buedel
Evelyne E. Buedel, 95, of Springfield, died at 10:50 am, Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born July 4, 1918, in Riverton to Frank J. and Edna Mary Wood Elshoff. She married Leo J. Buedel on July 4, 1941 and he preceded her in death on April 9, 1994.
Her parents and two sons, Leo J. Buedel, Jr. and Donald A. Buedel also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Regina (James) Deane-Vespa of Athens; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren with one on the way; one sister, Edna “Frankie” Peabody of Taylorville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Evelyne was a member of St. James Church in Riverton and Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. She belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America; St. Joseph’s Coterie; Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War Mary Todd Lincoln Tent #48; Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society and Legion of Mary.
She worked at Illinois Bell Telephone and for the Illinois Department of Revenue and worked at various other jobs.
Visitation: 10:00 am-12:00 pm, Thursday, May 22, 2014 at St. James Church in Riverton with the Catholic Daughters of America service at 11:00 am and Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War service at 11:45 am.
Funeral Mass: 12:00 pm, Thursday, May 22, 2014 at St. James Church in Riverton, with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
