SPRINGFIELD – Evalyn Young, 81, a resident of Springfield since 1952, died at 7:05 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, at St. John’s Hospice.
She was born March 2, 1929, in Pawnee, IL, the daughter of Cecil V. and Rosie Squires Russell. She married Kenneth Young in October of 1984.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 sisters, 1 brother and 1 grandson, Joshua Bressan.
Mrs. Young worked for 27 years as an assembler for Sangamo Electric and retired from the state of Illinois after 13 years of service as an office assistant for the State Police.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth L. Young of Springfield; 4 daughters, Yvonne (Ronald) Houston of Auburn, Susan Young of Springfield, Carol Macfarland of Springfield and Mary (Andrew) Egizi of Springfield; 3 sons, Denny Ferrari of Kamuela, HI, Kenneth Young of Springfield and Scott (Jennifer) Young of Springfield; 2 grandchildren, Jeremy Jones and Jason Kukla; 3 great-grandchildren, Bryce Kukla, Breanna Bressan and Maddy Kukla; 3 sisters, Fairy Castleman, Patsy Duffy and Peggy (Tom) Plotner, all of Springfield; 2 brothers, William Russell of Seattle, WA and Wayne (Susie) Russell of Springfield; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins.
Private family services will be held with Robert Green officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
