SPRINGFIELD – Evabelle Kimble, 90, of Edwardsville, formerly of Springfield, died at 8:10 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at her daughter’s residence in Edwardsville.
She was born Nov. 21, 1918, in Nevada, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn and Hortense Madison Armstrong. She married Lowell R. Kimble on Oct. 6, 1940; he preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1991.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Gwendolyn; a grandson, Scott Kimble; and a great-grandson, Sam Palmer.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Ted) Mitchell of Edwardsville; three sons, Bruce (Suzanne) Kimble of Punta Gorda, Fla., Kenneth (Peg) Kimble of Minneapolis and James (Carmella) Kimble of Frankfort; eight grandchildren, Erik (Lisa) Kimble, Matt (Diedre) Kimble, Chris (Kristin) Kimble, Katie Kimble, Stephanie (Michael) Whitehead, Amy Palmer and Emily and Hilary Mitchell; and six great-grandchildren, Dillon Beyers, Brock Kimble, Max Palmer, Daniel and Alyssa Kimble, and Makenna Whitehead.
Evabelle was a bookkeeper for Charles C. Thomas Publishing.
She was a member of Luther Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church. As an avid gardener, Eva volunteered as bookkeeper for Lincoln Memorial Garden and Nature Center.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at Luther Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Ron Moorman officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
