Eugene M. Landrum
SPRINGFIELD – Lt. Col. Eugene M. Landrum, Jr., Ret., 88, of Springfield died at 5:25 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at Heritage Manor.
He was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Fort Leavenworth, Kan., the son of Eugene M. and Frances Yeater Landrum. He married Susan Bradley in 1952; she preceded him in death in 1989.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marianna Pelham; and a son, Dr. Eugene Landrum III.
He is survived by a daughter, Anne (husband, Paul) Anderton of Atlanta.
Eugene lived in Springfield since 1964; prior to that he lived in various locations due to his career in the U.S. Army.
He retired from the U.S. Army in 1964, Sangamo Electric in 1970, and the Illinois Department of Transportation in 1982. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of the United States Power Squadrons.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with Pastor Jeff Chitwood officiating.
Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
