Ethel "June" Fry
SPRINGFIELD: Ethel “June” Fry, 88, of Springfield, died at 5:16 pm, Monday, May 16, 2011 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born June 27, 1922 in Springfield, to John James and Ethel Muir Gathard Clement. She married Truman “Toad” Fry on March 2, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 18, 2003. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Clifford Clement; five sisters, Mary Fry, Helen Letterly, Alice Schadow, Grace Rodgers and Rosella Redding.
Survivors include two daughters; Marilyn (Denny) Garland of Chatham and Anna Marie (Ronald) Polistina of Farmersville; one son, James “Jimmy” (Sallie) Fry of Springfield; Three grandchildren, Shane Wallace (Companion: Michelle Smith), Chelsea Fry (Fiancé Ricky Stead) and Jennifer Fry; six great grandchildren, Heather (Companion: Tommy), Nicholas, Shane, Tyler, Susie and Sean; one great great grandchild, Thomas Montgomery and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a member of St. Cabrini Church and Legion of Mary. She had a very strong faith and prayed daily for her family, friends and anyone who needed help. June was a beautician at the age of sixteen and one-half years and worked as a beauty operator for five years. She was also a homemaker.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 11 am, Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Stephen Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
