SPRINGFIELD – Ethel Campbell, 84, of Springfield died at 12:40 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Pleasant Hill Village in Girard.
She was born Sept. 15, 1923, in Springfield, the daughter of George Alfred and Iva Ethel Dowllar Woods. She married Thomas E. Campbell on April 14, 1940; he preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1977. She also was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Patricia Louise McBride on Nov. 27, 1996; two brothers, Bob and Bill Woods; and sister, Nellie J. Woods.
Mrs. Campbell was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was a retired cafeteria worker from Concordia Seminary, Lanphier High School, Zayre Department Store and Maid-Rite Sandwich Shop. She was a member of West Side Christian Church.
Surviving are her son-in-law, Richard McBride of Springfield; two grandchildren, Cindy (husband, Steve) Krumwiede and Dawn (husband, Mike) Burris; two great-grandchildren, Justin and Cory Burris; three sisters, Olive Stone and Mary (husband, Bob) Stover, both of Springfield, and Ellen (husband, Jim) Hollis of Belleville; a brother, George (wife, Darlene) Woods of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Howard Shockey officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
